The Strategic Information Director (SID) leads the monitoring, data analysis, reporting, evaluation, and research interventions for the Activity and serve a senior technical specialist in data quality and data analytics. I strengthened Sonke’s M&E system; tools and processes:- Within three months of my tenure, I had completely overhauled the M&E system, through revising the results frameworks, creating tools and establishing a data visualization dashboard which auto-updated and could be accessed by all colleagues for all 15 grants, ensuring proper risk management and data security and database backups;
I supported the clear definition of key performance indicators and monitored them throughout the institutional project implementation period;
I developed strategies to promote the use of data to in the development of new project proposals and in designing community interventions.
Participated and provided strategic input to the review of the organizational strategic plan and results-based framework;
Participated and provided strategic input and clarification on M&E processes during project inception meetings.
I supervised two data capturers and oversaw the collection and inputting of M&E data in the revamped system.
I routinely analyzed data, and developed monthly reports, as well as led organization-wide monthly reporting meetings to projects teams and management.

Conduct illicit drugs market survey in eSwatini, Lesotho, Botswana, southern Mozambique, Angola, Zambia and Zimbabwe and develop a research report on the cocaine, heroine, and crystal meth market characteristics, based on:
1. Price - identification of the retail (aka. street) price for cocaine across the domestic market in each of the countries identified, as well as identification of factors that influence retail price variations within each market, and between markets. This includes a photograph of the various retail and wholesale cocaine products available.
2. Production & distribution system - identification of the means by which cocaine precursors arrive into the country, and the means by which cocaine is created from these imported chemicals. Included also is the identification of the means by which wholesale and retail cocaine is sold in the country.
3. Market structure - Identify the core components and characteristics of the domestic cocaine market in the country, with particular attention paid to the identification of those features that enable these markets to emerge &/or flourish, as well as those deteriorate these markets.
Conducting research into the economic cost of illicit drug use in Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

Achievements
Oversaw daily running of activities in Lesotho & Eswatini for a short research project entitled "Drug use population size estimate & economic costs of drug use." Duties included recruitment and training of fieldworkers, overseeing overall procurement for the project, stakeholder liaison and engagement, supervising field work (Planning and implementation), data management (Collation, Cleaning, Capturing and quality assurance). Provided high caliber relationship development and management with all key actors, stakeholders and donors.
Established partnerships and networking with other initiatives and like-minded agencies and organizations.

Developed new projects and revised projects according to member states needs and donor instructions, contributed to the resource mobilization for new projects funding and/or projects additional funding. Through my contributions, the project grew in scope and geographical coverage, from HIV in Prisons to include SRH in prisons and improvement of livelihoods and was implemented in 10 Sub-Saharan African countries.
Managed budgets (>$12,000,000.00), mainly donor funding from SIDA, The Netherlands (Dutch), Swiss (SDC), Norway and others. I was trained in Umoja and was the project developer and budgeter for all UNODC ROSAF projects.
Immensely contributed to the establishment of the African HIV i n Prisons Partnership Network (AHHPPN), and the establishment and serving in the steering committee as the secretariat. Scheduled meetings and provided support to the AHHPPN website development and content creation.
Supported the African Correctional Service Association, and played a pivotal role in the planning and hosting of the ACSA conference in line with commemoration with the Nelson Madela Day.
Monitoring:
Developed the M&E plans and reporting tools for the programmes and ensured adaptability and customization at country level.
Provided technical assistance and support to member states on the development and maintenance of country specific M&E Frameworks, guidelines, tools development and indicator formulation.
Maintained track of activity implementation at regional and country level through monitoring of the workplans, and established an early warning system for any delays and failures in achieving project objectives.
Reporting:
Ensured accurate, timely, high quality reporting internally and to donors and partners/stakeholders.
Ensured close co-ordination and sharing of information with relevant colleagues throughout the organization.
Performed analysis and distribution of lessons learned through visits to and from the field and conferences, meetings and other events attended.
Evaluation:
Spearheaded mid-term & terminal programme evaluations. I developed Terms of References and liaised with the UN Independent Evaluation Unit and the UN Evaluation Group on recruitment and supervision of independent evaluators. I backstopped the entire evaluation process (Stakeholder mapping, data collection, Analysis and Report formulation). Planned and facilitated evaluation findings dissemination fora. I triangulated lessons learned from the evaluation and developed good practice papers.
Research, Knowledge Management & Learning:
I spearheaded the development of global HIV Situation and Needs Assessment in Prison Settings Toolkit, and supervised HIV seroprevalence and behavioural surveys undertaken in 10 Sub-Saharan African countries using this toolkit.
I spearheaded all other research undertaken by the unit, including Needs assessment of women who inject drugs in four cities in South Africa, development of best practice papers in the programme countries. Developed and approved TORs for consultants, monitored subcontracts, grants, consultant agreements, and budgets with regard to periods of performance, deliverable schedules, and contractual requirements, I also supervised consultants carrying out ALL research undertaken on the programme, ensured clearances by the Ethic Committees and dissemination of the reports.
Human Resources Management & Development (HRMD):
I supervised about 20 staff members, 14 were remotely and virtually supervised as they were based across the region and 5 were direct supervision, based in Pretoria.
I maintained a pro-active and positive approach to the support, facilitation, personal development and management of all team members in the Regional and Country Offices and interns assigned to me.
I undertook HR processes and procedures such as the signing of time-sheets, approval of invoices, approval of leaves and completion of performance reviews in a timely manner, ensuring that deliverable are aligned with agreed budgets, timelines and procedures.
I provided direction to all programme staff to ensure they are adhering to and achieving the specified budgets.
