Summary

7I joined the SABC in 2003 as Thobela FM station Manager and held that position for 10 years until I moved to head office as the General Manager for Metro FM, 5FM and Good Hope FM. I ended up heading the entire Radio portfolio as the General Manager for all SABC's 18 radio stations. During my tenure I Acted as the Group Executive Radio for seven months attending Group Executive meetings and frequently attending Board Subcommittee meetings. I was attached to the BBC's Radio Cornwall in 2007 sent by SABC. I attended the World Radio Summit in 2013 and in 2018, the year in which I was the only speaker from Africa discussing the future of Radio. I was part of the SABC delegation that visited Turkey in 2015 to learn about the role of radio in advancing the political agenda for the country. I was a Board member of the Broadcast Research Council (BRC). I was SABC Radio's Risk Champion. The stakeholders I worked with included the Sales and Marketing Division, News, Technology, Sports Division, Human Relations, Employee Relations, Government, Commercial Clients including Advertising Agencies. Some of the highlights of my stay at the SABC include being part of the team that developed and monitored the successful implementation of the Broadcast strategy for the 2010 Soccer World Cup. I oversaw the rebranding and the development of advertising campaigns for some radio stations including Metro FM and 5FM. I led the Radio's approach to the coverage of Dr Nelson Mandela's funeral. I developed the Radio Matric catch-up programs in 2010 assisting in catching up on the time spent out of active learning due to the activities associated with hosting of the world cup. I succeeded in cultivating the culture of good governance, ethics, integrity, conflict resolution, and proactive risk management.   • Reporting to the Group Executive of SABC Radio, I led a team of 18 radio station managers including the three commercial stations METRO FM, 5FM and Good Hope FM and Public service radio stations in developing their business their strategies and monitoring implementation thereto
