I am a 38-year-old African female, currently employed by the Parliament of the RSA as a FORA Officer, I have over 16 years’ government experience. I am looking for a challenging position in a reputable Institution where I can grow my career and expand my knowledge and skills.
Assists the Accounting Officer with coordinating and facilitating the effective functioning of governance and management structures (Fora) within Parliament.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate allocated Fora activities (meetings, workshop coordination, communication, and liaison). Liaise with the relevant stakeholders on behalf of Fora. Assists with providing procedural advice. Keep track of documents of procedural incidents and precedents. Provide administrative and logistical support to fora. Capture and draft minutes of fora proceedings. Process documents and correspondence for fora. Track and update Fora actions, recommendations, and resolutions. Keep abreast of issues that Fora committed to to provide the required assistance. Keep informed of topical issues involving the fora and assist with projects when required.
Additional Responsibilities:
Assist with setting up the Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) Section within Parliament by providing technical administrative support, research, benchmarking and any ad-hoc activities on GRC matters.
Provided and coordinated professional administrative and legal assistance to the Constitutional and Legal Services Office (the Office) of Parliament.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct research on legal and related issues as required by legal advisers. Draft reports/formulate draft legal opinions. Liaise with law libraries to keep abreast of new developments in law and coordinate the law library accordingly. Monitor the budget of the Legal Services Office according to financial management policies and procedures of Parliament. File legal opinions and supporting documentation. Index legal opinions and tagging of Bills. Facilitate the tagging of Bills by the Joint Tagging Mechanism. Facilitate the process of serving court documents in Parliament. Receive and process some litigation matters. Maintain litigation register and files. Liaise on behalf ofthe Office with relevant stakeholders. Provide professional legal administrative support to Parliament. Formulate monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for the Office.
Additional Responsibilities
Assist with litigation management. Assist with the preparation and implementation of the business and strategic plans. Coordinate operational activities of the Office. Devise office systems and review them regularly to improve the functioning of the Office. Coordinate training requirements for the Office. Draw up financial spreadsheets of the Office and follow up on financial matters.
Provided procedural and administrative support to parliamentary committees.
Key Responsibilities:
Organise committee activities i.e meetings, oversight visits, public hearings. Provide procedural advice to committee in accordance with rules, relevant statutory provisions, and Constitution. Liaise with stakeholders on behalf of the committee. Communicate committee decisions with relevant stakeholders. Follow up on responses to committee recommendations. Compile, monitor and assist with implementing the committee programme. Maintain a filing system and a record of all committee-related activities. Capture and draft minutes of committee proceedings. Process amendments to Bills. Draft committee reports. Facilitate the committee budget processes.
Provided administrative and logistical support to parliamentary committees.
Key Responsibilities:
Draft and distribute notices for meetings and documents to committee members. Keep attendance register. Update and keep a record of committee membership changes. Coordinate travel arrangements for committee members and support staff for oversight visits or public hearings. Liaise with relevant stakeholders in preparation for oversight visits, public hearings or committee meetings. Obtain quotations from service providers for advertisements of public hearings. Send acknowledgements of receipt of all written submissions received by the committee. Maintain a filing system of all committee-related documents (manually and electronically).
