Ensure that permits to work (PTW) are issued on site. Ensure all works orders are captured, monitored and signed off once completed. Monitor shift operational performance against key performance indicators. Chair monthly meetings with Team Leaders. Conduct daily site walkabouts and ensure a high level of housekeeping is maintained at all times. Assist with the development, review and maintenance of all work instructions. Complete on-the-job training for every employee in conjunction on with work instructions. Complete planned job observations. Assist the Operations Manager with all MOC requests (internal & external). Ensure compliance to all SHEQ systems. Conduct regular site inspections, ensuring that all defects, unsafe conditions and near misses are reported and rectified within an agreed time frame. Co-ordinate, attend and execute all emergency measures, incidents/accidents investigations that may occur in areas of responsibility. Refinery: Metallurgical Foreman

The primary function for the role was to control gold quality at all stages of Electro refining process and the levers that are used to control the targets, along with the appropriate decision making process based on the impact of each lever. Evaluating daily performance of the plant to ensure conformance of product specification, and investigate any deviations in the process. Identifying, evaluating and developing solutions and/or methods of improving process technologies designed to improving process technologies designed to optimize plant and process efficiencies. Carry out production standby duties for assisting with decision making after normal working hours for Electro-gold and other departments in the Refinery. The Electro-gold team consisted of 2 direct reports supervisors (chemical and metallurgy) and 16 indirect reports.

The primary function of the Technical Department at Rand Refinery was to provide support to operations, drive developments and efficiency improvement projects and energy management. My role included assisting and training junior process engineers so they become effective and efficient through on the job knowledge transfer and the benefit of experience. My key duties and responsibilities expanded towards plant commissioning of the Laser engraving machine, Kawasaki robots, pick and place robot, Hydraulic presses, Acid leach plant, polishing unit, PGMs and base metals recovery plant and rolling mills. Review and compilation of safety work procedures related metallurgy and/or process include doing risk assessments.

Ensure that high standards of housekeeping are maintained at all times to avoid equipment damage and safety hazards Ensure that production reports are completed timeously and submitted to the supervisor. Ensure that all faults are reported to the control room coordinator/foreman timeously. Ensure that there is full compliance with the SHEQ procedures, people, equipment and product. Train others on the job where required to ensure that skills gaps are reduced. Ensure that the end products are of good quality. Metal balancing and taking samples that reflect the stream.
