  • Postgraduate Research Supervision (2015 – 2023): Successfully supervised eight postgraduate research students to completion, contributing to university and departmental research throughput and output.
  • Established a research unit and platform from independently sourced funds from 2014 to 2023. Academic institutions no longer provide research support, and when extended, it is usually minimal. Two unfurnished laboratory rooms were made available upon appointment. Proposals for funding were written and submitted to different funding bodies and organizations, as well as the WITS University Research Council. About 17 proposals proved to be successful, and the funds obtained were used to furnish laboratories. This enabled the establishment of a research group within the research niche of interest.
  • NRF Innovation Postdoctoral Fellowship (Oct 2012–Apr 2013): Received a fellowship from NRF for innovative research.
  • Prestigious DAAD Fellowship (Aug 2011 – Feb 2012): Selected for a fellowship awarded by DAAD for a postdoctoral research role at the Institute of Physiology, Charitè – University Medicine Berlin, Germany.
  • Successful application for Y-rated research funding (2018): ZAR300,000 funding obtained in Y-rating category (emergent researcher)
  • Faculty of Health Sciences Special Achievers Award (2016)
  • Successful application for national research (NRF) rating (2016): Attained rating within the Y-rating category associated with emergent researchers and grant worth ZAR1mil dispensed from 2014 to 2016.
