- I joined Vumatel 2015 when they were still a startup.I was 20 years of age at the time. I had +-1.5 years’ experience when I started as area network owner. I have been privileged to get exposure to most of the departments in the Operations department where my current role is.I worked directly with all linked divisions from Technical Approvals, Installations, Circuit-provisioning, HOC, MDU’s and Maintenance in the past 7 years.
My duties currently consist of the following
- To provide technical support and hands on expertise with the maintenance, preventative maintenance and network acceptance teams and remain client focused
- To design and implement FTTH best practice standards within the various teams to maintain world class operating standards
- To drive the various key performance indicators, managing root cause analysis in implementing required operational changes
- Manage a team of Area Network Owner supporting all FTTH maintenance activities.
- Maintain a leadership position within the team; Proactively anticipate, problem solve, plan and execute maintenance schedules and future proof the passive network.
- Keep abreast of new technologies and ensure the knowledge management of the latest trends in the FTTH space; Manage maintenance risks proactively and implement plans to mitigate risks.
- Ensure synergy and co-operation between the various teams.
- Manage maintenance risks proactively and implement plans to mitigate risks; Motivate, equip, train and manage team success as well as develop and implement service standards, test protocols and preventative maintenance strategies.
- Manage relationships and workflows within Operations function and greater Vumatel environment.
- Compile and manage the department reporting functions/requirements; Live and Breathe the HERO Culture.
- Develop a fibre, FTTH knowledge base to use as training guides and manuals for the teams.
- Compile standard operating procedures and measure compliance to ensure a world class passive network; Manage and administer the work completed by contractors on the network.
