Minimum Emissions Solution (MES)

Lead Process Engineer on the project, the project aimed to ensure compliance with the minimum Emission Standards (MES) for point source emissions, as mandated by Section 59 of the National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act (Act No 39 of 2004).

Responsibilities:

• Reviewing process documents (HMB, Datasheets, Design Basis, Operation and Maintenance procedures, PFDs, MFDs, Technical Baseline report).
• Liaising with Client, Contractors and discipline leads.
• Actively participating in Reviews (PFD, M&ID, Model, HAZOP, and Constructability) and action close-out.
• Attend punches in alignment with the company's standards.

Clean Fuels Project

The project was aimed at improving the Sasol Secunda factory baseline capacity to produce petrol and diesel that meet Clean Fuels specifications.

Responsibilities:

• Philosophies (Venting and Drainage, Firefighting, Control and Operating).
• Sizing of Nitrogen push-pull system.
• Creating and Updating drawing PFD’s, MCFD’s, MFD’s to disciplined specifications and redlining information using Bluebeam Tool.
• Development of datasheets, equipment and line lists.
• Utility and Emission’s summary
• Performance Test Run
• Hazardous Fluid Identification
• Relief Devices Calculations
• Tank Calculation
• Heat and Mass Balance

• Convert non-intelligent CAD drawings to Intelligent Base Technology
• Draft PID’s , PFD’s and MCFD’s using Smart Plant and MicroStation
• Line and Equipment Lists

• The scope includes design using Smart Plant software:
• Smart Plant PID
• Electrical & Instrumentation design using Smart Plant Electrical (SPEL) & Smart Plant Instrumentation (In-Tools)
• Piping design using Smart Plant 3D
• Civil & Structural design using Smart Plant 3D
• Application work on Smart Plant Software.

• Test product samples according to standards and specifications
• Research and Development of new Food, Cosmetics and Pharmaceutical products
