Undertake the appropriate research to ensure that you I am familiar with a client prior to commencement of the audit.
Ensure client are kept to date with technical developments.
Overall planning of the whole section, review and co-ordinate work.
Assist and instruct trainees at all levels.
Supervise staff.
Manage audits and handle technical complexities and take final responsibility.
Take full responsibility for the completion of work assigned, within the allotted timeframes as per budget
To ensure that the file is up to audit quality review standard before handing over to partners, and also check on growth targets as per balance scorecard.
Participate in technical committee issues.
Active involvement in the training and progressing of junior staff.
Give direction to junior staff, review their work and follow up on the resolution of any queries raised.
Assume the In Charge Auditor role on Small to Medium Entities clients – planning staff, liaising with partners with regards to budgets and problems encountered and reviewing work done by staff working directly under them.
Comprehensive use of Teammate/ Caseware for review and closing of queries cleared.
Take responsibility for the completion of work assigned within the allocated timeframes as per budget.
Prepare accurate documentation for review on a timely basis in accordance with the audit methodology and the firm’s quality control standards.
Supervising junior staff and providing advice and assistance with respect to the work assigned to them and be able to review the work.
Complete a complex accounts payable, accounts receivable and inventory section which may include foreign transactions.
Have a basic understanding of IFRS/GRAP and be able to prepare basic financial statements for small to medium sized entities.
Completing more complex work on large audits such as quoted companies and subsidiaries of international clients.
Under supervision, audit tax provisions and check deferred tax computations and finance leases and long term liabilities.
A good level of technical competence and good application of the audit methodology and international standards on auditing.
Perform basic financial statement analysis.
Comprehensive use of Teammate/ Caseware including creation and merging of replica’s, backups and resolving audit conflicts.
Show basic understanding of accounting and auditing issues
Assist in the completion of more complex sections and perform simple transaction verification work. (such as vouching and verifications)
Completing sections such as cash & bank, property, plant and equipment (verifications, completeness testing and depreciation re-calculations) and income statement expenditure to a consistent standard.
Complete sections such as receivables, local creditors and inventories for Small to Medium Enterprises.
Finalise assigned work with minimum supervision.
Perform analytical review procedures at an account balance level.
