Tax Specialist
- Manage tax submissions and made sure all information complied with regulations.
- Deliver comprehensive tax documentation required for accurate corporate returns.
- Maintain thorough and current understanding of applicable tax laws.
- Review available data and compare against tax code to determine exemptions, deductions, and potential liabilities.
- Facilitate integration of modern tax software to assist in the automation of corporate tax.
- Prepared tax returns, extensions, tax planning calculations and write-ups.
- Complete and file returns with tax departments at local, state and federal levels.
- Contacted revenue authority or other relevant government organizations to address issues related to tax matters.
- Prepared written responses or tax return amendments to resolve state and federal notices.
- Support South Africa and Zambia tax team(s) in tax matters (Corporate Tax, VAT, Dividend’s tax, Customs and Excise, and Deferred Tax)
- Support South Africa and Zambia tax team(s) with monthly tax reporting and standardization.
- Manage agreed excise projects in the eight markets outside SA in the Zone (Nigeria, Tanzania, Mozambique, Zambia, Uganda, Botswana, Ghana, and Namibia).
- Excise Project collaboration with the Zone Tax, Corporate Affairs, In-Country Tax and Corporate Affairs teams, as well as tax consultants and local lawyers on tax projects to ensure focus and accountability.
- Track KPI’s for success and develop monthly reports on progression of tax and finance projects to ensure projects are on-track and delivered according to set targets.
- Project management on entity simplification and in turn co-ordination between the legal, merger and acquisition, finance, and tax team to ensure focus and accountability.
- Monthly report back to the tax director and the global tax team on the different excise projects, overall team targets and tax audits taking placing in Africa.
