2021: My debut Afrikaans memoir, Als is nie (net) swart en wit nie reached the finals of the prestigious kykNET-Rapport Book Prizes.
2022: Naledi releases my autobiography Dark White Light Black.
2020: Completes nonfiction writing course.
2011: At the funeral of the legendary Eastern Cape boxer, Nkosana "Happy Boy" Mgxaji, then Minister of Sport and Recreation, Fikile Mbalula quoted from one of my articles ("Those Were Happy Days" in City Press) in his eulogy for "Bra Nko".
2007: Scooped Mondi Shanduka Commended Newspaper Award in the category News & Analysis for three-part series titled "Blacks Know Rugby" in capacity as Chief Subeditor of City Press.
2005: Community newspaper I edited and co-owned, West Xpress, scooped Best Emerging Publication at the Sanlam Community Press Awards, as well as a Nissan/Capro Award for community newspapers.
2003: As Assistant Editor, co-created house style (language and design) of Afrikaans tabloid, Kaapse Son (now Son); spearheaded alignment of content with target audience.
1999-2000: Johannesburg daily, Beeld, won Frewin Trophy for Typographical Excellence 2 years in succession during my tenure as Night Editor/Production Editor/Assistant Editor.
