Worked at Kopanang Gold Mine in the North West province. The mine has over 300 computer users, and relies heavily on network availability for its SCADA systems used to monitor and control production activities. Key duties were:
- Installing, configuring and administering network technologies
- Installing, configuring workstations for IP/IPX based LAN
- Installing and configuring DHCP Client/Server systems to support dynamic IP address allocation
- Collecting and analyzing data on recurring issues, then conceptualizing and implementing effective solutions to prevent future occurrences
- Installing, configuring, upgrading, and troubleshooting hardware across servers, desktops, notebooks, and printers (Laser and DeskJet)
- Managed Exchange email environments, ensuring high system uptime as well as integration with Active Directory
- Maintaining Active Directory, managing security domains, user profiles, and other network resources, and ensuring optimal performance of Windows Servers
- Communicate effectively with service providers to ensure that IT objectives are accurately delivered as required by the mine
- Effectively liaising with service providers to ensure IT objectives align with business needs
- Provide support to users by addressing logged calls and troubleshooting hardware and software issues in line with Service Level Agreements (SLAs), ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency
- Troubleshooting of hardware, software and network related problems with complete understanding of network, hardware and software administration.
- Provided support to users both physically (local) and by phone to resolve their logged calls on time
