I am a joint PhD student in Linguistics at the University of the Western Cape, South Africa and Ghent University, Belgium. My research interests in the field of linguistics include, but is not limited to, Sociolinguistics, Discourse Analysis, Linguistic Citizenship, and more recently, Skinscapes. My area of research is on marginalised communities in our societies whereby I've conducted ethnographic research on the LGBTQ+ community in the virtual landscape, specifically TikTok and refugees in the South African landscape, specifically a makeshift refugee camp in Cape Town because I am dedicated to transformative change and envision a world where we can recognise all individuals simply as human beings. In addition to this, my goal is to teach, guide and mentor students as they navigate through university not only from a teaching perspective but to humanise the role of a "teacher" (lecturer). By adopting the latter, we can potentially foster better collaboration, insightful lectures and impactful discussion in the classroom about the work of scholars and real-life experiences.
