I started my career at Nampak DivFood in 1989 after completing two years of military service in the South African Defense Force. I started as a trainee QA Inspector and qualified as a Senior QA Inspector.
I was promoted to the position of Dimensional auditor responsible for the dimensional measurements of slitters and presses. I was further promoted to QA Technologist responsible for the quality gauges, audits, and trials.
In the year 2006, I was promoted to the role of QA Manager responsible for the quality function of the entire Paarl plant. In the year 2010, the environmental management system was added to my portfolio. We achieved ISO14001 certification in 2011.
The Safety Health and Risk portfolio was added to my portfolio in 2016, where I was promoted as the SHERQ Manager for the Paarl Plant. With the closure of the beverage line in July 2018 at Epping, I resumed responsibility for the quality of the 2-piece foodline. In 2019 I also resumed responsibility for quality for the NP Closures site. I was overall responsible for the SHERQ function for the 3 manufacturing sites.
I see myself as an adaptable SHERQ Manager with a 34-year experience in 2-piece, 3-piece can, and ROPP/Twist-off manufacturing processes. I have a background in implementing and developing improvement processes through collaboration with cross-functional teams.
