The Principal Country Management Accounting is responsible for ensuring the successful adoption of the Management Accounting solution at the Country / Asset level.

The scope of Management Accounting is as follows:

• Accurate and transparent view of how and where we make money in our business
• To provide activity-based costing to allow informed decisions and timely interventions (i.e. cost accounting that meets business expectations and no just financial reporting requirements)
• Develop capabilities in our teams to support the coordination, monitoring, and optimisation of the Company's performance

Performance and Delivery

• Own the development and adoption of a common Management Accounting architecture. The business outcome is to deliver one version of management accounting that is accurate and available to all, aligned to AAOM principles and the CEO Scorecard.
• Work with the BU Finance leadership and Beyond Finance teams to coordinate the requirements for this area across finance and mining operation stakeholders.
• The role will require the assessment of necessary localisations for differing assets and processes, ensuring consistency remains with the standard design and principles of the Anglo Operating Model (AAOM).
• Support the Beyond Finance Leadership team to integrate the Management Accounting global design with existing processes (e.g., Budgeting, Financial Reporting, MPR/QPRs, etc).
• Promote changes to these processes with key stakeholders to maximise the effectiveness of Management Accounting. Develop and own the local business case.
• Drive the integration of Management Accounting with other associated business improvement strategies.
• Seek to identify capability and organisational changes required to deliver the outcomes, using AAOM and AA Organisation Model principle.
• Additional areas in work :
• Setting up of PowerBi report for project tracking
• Assist Business integration team in review system landscape and identifying functional requirements for system development

Performance manager role is to ensure the successful implementation and adoption of the AARC (Activity, area and responsibility costing) with the designated operations

• Responsibilities included assisting in implementing SAP AOP in Platinum division,
• Reviewing system demos, identifying and designing requirements
• Adhoc analysis on projects, and updating of BFE
• Designed, developed and implemented essbase database for Activity, area and responsibility costing
• Assisted in maintaining equipment level database for Openpit mining
• Review of future systems that could be used within the operation planning and reporting environment

This roles entails consolidating the performance of the company, analysing the performance and reporting this to executives and the external market.

Key deliverables from the role are :

• Budget reporting
• Monthly Opsco reporting
• Quarterly production report to investors
• Interim group performance results booklet
• Year end group performance results booklet
• Interacting with the Anglo American majority shareholder to assist them in better understanding the performance of the business unit
• Bonus calculations and setting up of targets for the year
• Monthly reporting of the basic financial equation of all the operations
• Variance analysis to understand how EBITDA and unit cost is made up
• Headwind and tailwind analysis
• Interacting with operational teams to get better understanding and commentary regarding key performance areas
• Ad-hoc analysis reports

The role involved the full finance function of Amandelbult Concentrators, the most challenging portion of the role would be the engagement with end users to make them understand the finances of the company and that it shouldn't be production at all costs.

• Formed part of the HOD team to drive key discussion points of the operation

• Moving between Anglo American Platinum's different business units, learning all the different finance functions within Anglo and learning how the mining environment works.
• Most of my time was spent at Khuseleka Mine within Rustenburg section. Here I spent the majority of my time within the management accounting department, aswell as acting in an accountant role to assist Khuseleka mine while the Senior accountant was moved to a different shaft. Here I started with my exposure into the budgeting, forecasting and the daily activities of what is required from a finance department to support the business in being successfull.
