  • Appointed in terms of section 7(4) and regulation 2.13.1 of the Mine Health and Safety Act, responsible for construction of the following: 77.8 MW solar plant, step-up substation (33kV/132kV), 2 overhead transmission lines 132kV for redundancy, perimeter fencing and security systems, water supply system, roadways, buildings and step-down substation (132kV/33kV), planned to supply base load of Grootgeluk Coal 33kV substation
  • Responsibilities for all mechanical and electrical installations within the boundaries of Lephalale Solar Plant, inspection, monitoring and implementing features to improve safety and usability
  • Safety of all self-propelled mobile equipment allocated to my area
    • Contractors performing construction, erection, commissioning or maintenance work are also subject to direction and instruction by me to ensure compliance with the requirements of the act and regulations
    • Responsible for the safe erection and proper maintenance of all buildings, structures and tanks
    • Ensure that all safety appliances, mechanisms and guards are maintained in good condition and that the operation of any apparatus or machine which may constitute danger to the health and safety of persons, is stopped immediately
