Transfrig is a company based in Johannesburg South Africa that specialises in the design and manufacture of refrigerated vehicle systems. Over the course of my multiple assignments there, I designed and implemented various solutions in the production environment. This included developing a rotating stand that allowed an evaporator unit to be rotated during assembly. This reduced the effort of constantly repositioning the unit during assembly and greatly optimized the process.

During my previous term at Transfrig I designed and built a temperature regulated open water tank for quenching of copper pipe fittings after brazing. The tank was required to maintain a water temperature of 60 °C. This was intended to prevent thermal shock during quenching.
Tasked with improving operator safety, I designed and instituted a safety system for a bench-mounted metal saw. The creation of a safety shield enclosure restricted access to the blade, preventing potential injuries. This enclosure featured openings for material insertion and a removable panel for cleaning and clamping, with an integrated cut-off switch ensuring operational safety.
Edart is a South African based company which designs and manufactures various slurry control equipment for the mining and petrochemical sector. During this phase of employment with Edart, I implemented systems to improve the material handling practices between the material stores and the assembly floor. I devised an asset tracking system to locate items within stores, integrating it with the existing inventory system. This integration streamlined the identification and selection of items according to their associated job cards, enhancing overall efficiency within the facility.

In my initial role at Edart, I assembled and pressure-tested pinch and knife gate valves and contributed to the assembly process of two prototype pinch valves. I also provided crucial direction for rigging to erect a gantry crane, modified to accommodate the large size of one of the prototype valves.
Gerdore is a German tool company with manufacturing operations in various countries across the world. I worked in the branch in Durban, South Africa. I was part of the team conducting annual maintenance at factory. The primary project I engaged in was the conversion of the piping system in the electroplating plant from steel to plastic, showcasing my adaptability and skill in handling diverse maintenance tasks.
