Roles and responsibilities
• Develop maintenance procedures and ensure implementation of food industry standards (FSSC 22000)
• Carry out inspections of the facilities to identify and resolve issues
• Check electrical, hydraulic, mechanical an pneumatic systems of machines to ensure functionality and efficiency
• Plan and oversee all repair and installation activities
• Allocate workload and supervise upkeep staff
• Monitor equipment inventory and place orders when necessary
• Monitor expenses and control the budget for maintenance department
• Manage relationships with contractors and service providers
• Keep maintenance logs and report on daily activities
• Ensure health and safety policies are complied with
• Ensuring breakdowns and repairs are handled swiftly to keep production and efficiency at a maximum
• Machine and line improvements (modifications) to improve efficiency and prevent or keep waste at a minimum

• Breakdown tracking (spreadsheets) and reports to establish the overall effect that breakdowns had on efficiencies

• Maintenance staff performance reviews and reporting

• Maintenance staff training and up skilling

Deliverables
• Understanding and building of new control panels with relay logics for conventional and new machines in the heavy engineering industry.
• Using electrical drawings to fault find and replace broken and obsolete components
• Electrical rewiring and repairs
• Planning and layout design of electrical panels
• Installation and programming of variable speed drives to motors
