• Bridge slump test - mold sampling of concrete cubes compacted and not to be disturbed or be moved until next day, 7 days cubes and must exceed 60% - 75% of strength and rest crushed at 28 days.
• Wet/dry durability test takes approximately 36 days but interim results can be viewed before test is completed to check if material being tested will meet durability specification as per table 3402, shall comply with table 3402/3
• Asphalt preparation before applying prime – stable 60, examine moisture content before priming sub-base, backscatter method is applied or 50mm depth sample is taken to laboratory to determine actual moisture of which moisture content should be in the region of 4.5% or 5% for sub-base to allow prime penetration and prime should at least be 10mm or above in penetration.
• Tack coat (50% water and 50% stable 60) application rate calculated to determine drums required for a particular section as per TRH3
• Asphalt mix temperature from trucks on arrival should be 160 -140 degrees Celsius before is loaded in the paver – paving temperature shall be 120 degrees Celsius.
• Paving should start bottom-up on a longitudinal grade and on supers paving should start from the lower side to higher side
• Surface irregularities – a 3m straight edge and a rolling straight edge tests are done for smooth rideability as per COLTO 4200-17
• Random coring, except in circumstances where there is segregation, poor joint or exceeding design thickness for newly laid sphalt test results of Bitumen content, voids content and ITS
• Flow cone grout test series 8100-17 as per COLTO, after the post-tensioning of precast bridge beams
• Steel inspection spacings, cover and number of steel bars as shown on drawings, spacer blocks with formwork horizontally and vertically firmly into position
