Monitor that the Contractor complies with all national road safety rules and requirements of the
contract documents;
● Monitor that the Contractor carries out sufficient training of his personnel to ensure a safe
working environment for his personnel and travelling public;
● Ensure that any traffic related accidents are properly reported and investigated and that
preventative measures are put in place to prevent recurrence;
● Monitor the Contractor’s implementation of his traffic accommodation to ensure safety of road
users including pedestrians and non-motorized traffic during the rehabilitation works;
● Ensure that the Contractor has appointed all road safety personnel required by the contract
documents, trained them and set up systems to allow them to function properly;
● Conduct regularsafety meetings with the Contractor’s nominated officers;
● Monitor compliance with the Traffic Management Plan;
● Report on traffic management and safety compliance in the Monthly Progress Report.

Activities performed:
● Design of lane closure drawings to suit the scope
and progress of works.
● Planning and implementing various lane closures
with the approval of the Client: Ekurhuleni
Municipality.
● Conducted meetings and site inspections with
Client.
● Drafting and implementing the Traffic Management
Plan for the project.
● Daily traffic accommodation inspections and
monitoring as well as appropriate rectifications
accordingly.
● Involved in Incident and Accident Investigations,
Internal Safety Audit findings and closed outs.
● Drafting and implementing the Traffic Management
Plan, Risk Assessment and Safe Working Procedure.
● Create weekly road closure schedule and agree
with toll concessionaire road operator.
● Draft and implement the Traffic Management Plan
for the project.
● Managing and supervising the site Traffic Team and
Traffic Accommodation site activities carried out by
Traffic Team.
● Inspect the site to ensure it is a hazard-free
environment.
● Verifying that all safety features ,including
signs ,markings , and barriers ,are correctly
installed and visible
● Good planning keeps work zones safe
