• Creation of a highly effective Risk & Compliance function, from scratch:
• As the “go to” person for delivering exceptional results on time and within budget, Vinosha developed a highly effective framework and populated it to generate a structure comprising top teams, records, policies and an overall behavioural culture of Risk and Compliance. This was achieved by the successful articulation of the Risk function within the overall business operations, and the collaboration required for it to succeed.
• Vinosha skillfully educated the business on Risk Maturity at the most strategic level by incorporating an EQ-based approach, effectively aligning teams’ working styles, priorities and motivators to the requirements of the Risk function. A transformational leader, she adopted a business-partnering approach fostering a culture of engagement; and she gained critical buy-in from seasoned business heads to share alignment and prevent barriers; thereby enabling optimal outcomes.
• Vinosha, in her early years at SAB Ltd, was part of the small team that created the brewery at Chamdor, Johannesburg to produce the American beer Miller Genuine Draft (MGD). This was the very first time Miller was produced and sold in South Africa.

• Vinosha heads the Risk & Compliance function spanning 5 business units, for the Solutions & Enablement platform. Primary functions of the platform include:
• Product Management, incorporating strategic decisions on all group-wide products (Retail and Institutional); Product Development and strategic Partnerships to enable the company to achieve strategic objectives.
• Data Governance, Data Strategy, Innovation & Implementation
• Best Practice – Industry best practice, legislature requirements and company requirements to assist advisors and third parties provide the necessary advice on Retirement, Investments, etc., to clients.
• Strategic Insights & Analytical Tools – the area accountable for the tools, calculators and models that are utilized by advisors.
• Central Operations – accountable for finance.
• Vinosha also forms part of the Platform MANCO, RISCO and Budget committees.

• Creating goal-based performance measures and hypothesis around challenges, develop and curate an ingrained Risk culture; by embedding and activating an appropriate Risk appetite.

• Developed strategic risk metrics and dashboards for Group Risk Committee reporting.
• Led ERM-based risk management, producing and updating enterprise risk reports.
• Managed strategic platform projects, integrating risk assessment and mitigation.
• Oversaw compliance deliverables, representing the platform at Group level.
• Chaired platform RISCO sessions, consolidating executive feedback.
• Advised platform CEO on risk priorities, presenting at Group CEO forums.
• Monitored market trends and competitor activity to identify emerging risks.
• When influencing longstanding business experts, Vinosha learnt to listen / observe before volunteering her input; to successfully convince tough personalities by knowing when and how to stand her ground, per her motivating quote: “between stimulation and response, there lies an opportunity for growth”.

• Maintain accountability for second-line Compliance activities of Alexander Forbes Individual Client Administration and nominee company, Sanlam / Glacier. This includes:
• Preparation of Regulatory universe.
• Drawdown of Risk Management & Compliance Plan.
• Creation of Monitoring Plan
• Interpretation and opalization of new legislation.
• Participated in Group Compliance projects incl. Financial Crime Control, Market Conduct and Privacy.
• 2) Head of Risk & Compliance - Retail
• Oversaw compliance monitoring, regulatory submissions, Fit & Proper requirements, and legislative implementation.
• Managed CAT III registration and Binder/Outsourcing services for Retirement Fund Administration.
• Directed strategic risk identification, mitigation tracking, reporting, and training to embed risk culture.
• Led team operations and served on STEERCO and Group Regulatory Project Committees.
• 3) Senior Manager of Special Projects Emerging Markets
• Reporting to the CEO of Emerging Markets:
• Project manage all M&A developments to ensure inorganic growth into Africa.
• Manage the successful acquisition and integration of the Zimbabwean Actuarial business into Alex Forbes.
• Rollout system tools into countries to increase revenues.
• Consolidate Emerging Markets information into the Integrated Annual Report.
• Upon the sudden dissolution of the Alex Forbes Executive Management team and subsequent restructuring of emerging markets, Vinosha was then appointed as Head of Retail Risk & Compliance.

I thoroughly enjoy global travel and the multicultural aspects thereof.  I am inspired by people, places

I treasure family time and activities such as live theatre.   I take great pleasure in “stressbusting”

activities such as drumming, meditation, dancing with my kids, and relaxation breathing techniques.
