  • Measuring, designing, fabricating and weld of pipe systems, including HDPE pipes, chutes and steel structures.
  • Installing of above mentioned pipes, structures and chutes in my designated coal processing plant.
  • Repairing of any chutes and chute covers, as well as steel structures. (Mild steel and Stainless steel)
  • Currently my work consists of 50% workshop and fabrication and 50% plant maintenance.
  • Using machines such as Guillotine, bending press, hydraulic punch and shear and radial arm drill.
  • Replacing of gaskets on flanges.
  • Reading of drawings and building according to the required measurements.
  • Safe lifting of equipment by utilizing lever hoists, overhead cranes, chain blocks, slings, beam clamps, beam crawlers, etc.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe workplace in the workshop and plant.
  • Providing after-hours standby services in respect of emergencies.
  • Assisting management in dividing staff responsibilities to ensure the best performances.
  • By developing other employees, such as Artissan aids and apprentices
  • Assist in transporting pumps and material for fabrication to and from the workshop and the yard by use of a 7ton truck and forklifts/manitou.
  • Acting as foreman from time to time when the foreman is absent on leave, this has led me to gain experience in leading a team of up to 21 people, with a combined time of about 2 years
  • Ordering of material and spares needed for shutdowns and other day to day activities.
  • Planning for shutdowns and maintenance days to avoid unnecessary long-standing hours and to execute planned jobs effortlessly.
  • Ad hearing to all SPI’s and SWP’s to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Doing daily inspection in my designated area of the plant to ensure smooth operations, this allows me to be pro active in identifying leaking pipes, damaged chutes, damaged pump bases, damaged conveyors, structures and any other issues that might cause spillages, damages and any safety risks. (This allows proper planning and execution of my day to day jobs as well as shut-down and maintenance planning)

  • Overseeing the entire benefisiation area of the mine, this included new area such as remote slym dames, recovery water dames, presfilters, roller crushers and drum crushers,
  • Assiting with brakedowns and callouts,
  • Assisting other Artisan teams with machines and equipment such as manitou forklift, overhead crane and truck with a mounted crane,
  • Planning for shut downs and scheduled repairs,

besides being able to grow and influens people in the working area, spending time with my family outdoors is my second best thing to do, we like to camp, fish, game drive and travel off road, the simple thing in live is wat wat enjoy going into the outdoors. Fabricating metal work is also something I love to do for this allows me to continue practise and refining my trade.
