• Overseeing and coordinating the operations of a foundry facility

• Aligning the objectives and plans of the team with company’srequirements

• Optimizing production processes

• Updating and train on SOPs on an annual basis with records kept

• Provide specialist advice on material selection, casting and related technical requirements

• Assist with audits conducted continuously on all aspects of operations and equipment to ensure full compliance

• Control and monitor expenditure according to budget

• Stakeholder management

Performing metallurgical tests

• Identification and conformance verification of ferrous and non-ferrous materials

• Advise on the selection of materials or alternative materials

• Quality control of casting

• Performing Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA)

• Liaise with various sections to ensure components are fit for purpose

• Oversee the Metallurgy Section

• Reporting and presentations

• Offer basic material training to upcoming artisans

• Developing working procedures

• Manage and control the equipment and tools inventory for the section, including calibration

• Ordering of lab consumables

• Daily risk assessment

Identification and conformance verification of metallic materials by chemical analysis

• Advise on the selection of materials or alternative materials

• Performing Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA)

• Drawing up materials specifications

• Performing metallurgical tests on materials

• Trends analysis (Monitoring the plant)

• Sampling and laboratory test work (moisture, psd, ph, flowrates, flotation, filtering)

• Furnace movement/ measurement, immersions and ramp-up

• Metallurgist on duty per 12 hour shift

• Stock taking

• Cyclones pressure taking

• Technical presentations

• Monthly reports

• Verifying the melt composition

• Sampling and sand mould test (moisture, psd, loss of ignition, compactability, compression)

• Pattern making using wood

• Mixing of foundry sand and mould making preparation

• Furnace charging

• Hardness measurements of castings

• Operating foundry machines (HP, Core maker)
