- Render generic Social Work Services with regard to care and protection of children.
- Monitoring of ECD centers and ensure that the environment is conducive for development of children.
- Ensure capacity building of staff by providing training.
- Provide counseling to assist clients and significant others to adjust to the diagnosis and make the necessary changes to ensure that clients live positively with HIV.
- Conduct HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, disability, domestic violence and older person's awareness campaigns.
- Working with children in conflict with the law.
- Supervise Social Auxiliary Workers to ensure that high professional standard is upheld.
- Administration and implementation of Children's Act through application of various theoretical approaches and models ( Psychotherapeutic models, systematic therapy, psychosocial, humanistic approach and Family based model).
- Conduct risk assessment to ascertain if the child is at risk or significant harm that warrants further intervention.
- Removal of children from unsafe families/environment and placement in alternative care ( these may include foster parents, adoption and child care institutions like places of safety, children's homes and schools of industry).
- Initializing Children's Court inquiries (compiling and submitting background/opening social inquiry report to Presiding Officer of Children's Court in terms of the Children's Act 38 of 2005).
- Assessment, screening and training of prospective foster parents or alternative care placement.
- Psychosocial counseling of children in crisis.
