A dedicated and passionate linguist with a Bachelor of Arts (Cum Laude) from the University of the Western Cape, majoring in History, Language and Communication Studies, and Sociology. Completed an Honours in General Linguistics at Stellenbosch University with a focus on sociolinguistics, and currently pursuing a Master's in General Linguistics with a thesis on child language acquisition. Employed part-time as a research assistant at the South African Centre for Digital Language Resources (SADiLaR), supporting language documentation and preservation projects. Experienced in academic research, transcription, and data management, with strong skills in communication, organization, and working with diverse populations. My academic and professional life has equipped me with strong research, transcription, and data management skills, as well as strengths in communication, organization, and working effectively with diverse populations. I bring a detail-oriented and analytical mindset to my work and am committed to advancing linguistic knowledge through scholarly engagement and research.
• Ensure the correct number of scripts and mark sheets per batch, subject, paper, and examination session are received, controlled, scanned and these packed for the correct marking venue and markers.
• Ensure all questions are marked, marks added correctly any correctly transferred to the front cover of the script.
• Ensure that the total on each script is correct and correctly transferred to the mark sheet.
• Ensuring that discrepancies regarding all the above are addressed by the marking teams and amendments effected accordingly on both the script and mark sheet.
•Reconcile the number of scripts, control and arrange scripts per subject, paper, numerically for indexed archival after marking.

• Compile accurate attendance/absentee records and to complete the administrative
processes and paperwork as directed by the Exams team and/or invigilator team
leader.
•Deliver the examination papers back to the department immediately and securely at the end of an examination.
• Creation of a safe and secure environment establishing a controlled environment for examination, this includes the set up prior to students arrival and all necessary exam papers etc are sorted.
•Seating arrangements and logistics, ensuring the set up, the seating arrangements, proper lighting, ventilation and removal of any unauthorised materials. Also, to remove any objects that could potentially be used to cheat by students.
•Explanation of examination rules and regulations, settling the students and facilitating the examination rules and expectations. Instructions on completion of the examination, clarifying any uncertainties, and also to remind students of the gravity of cheating.
•Monitoring the examination, during the examination, as an invigilator my role is to diligently monitor the students to maintain an atmosphere of fairness. Keeping a watchful eye for any signs of cheating, such as unauthorised communication, use of prohibited materials, or suspicious behaviour. In addition, ensuring that the students maintain a respectful and focused environment to minimise distractions.
•Assisting students but all the while maintaining the integrity and fairness of the examination. Addressing technical issues, examination procedures and handle any emergencies within the examination i.e. medical conditions
•Escorting students to a restroom nearby the examination venue when presented
Data collection for a PhD Psycholinguistics Candidate's article
•The data collection necessiatated that I approach and interact with potential participants by sharing a QR code with them to scan on both on social media (WhatsApp and Gmail) and face-to-face on the Stellenbosch University campus to complete a five to ten minute survey.
•The participants need to be L1 Afrikaans speakers between the ages of 18 and 50.
•105 participants responses were recorded.
