Trinity Manyathi holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Risk Management, National Diploma and a B-tech degree in Safety Management. She has also completed a certificate in Management Development program from Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS).
She has 13 years’ experience in the SHERQ field. She has worked as a Safety officer, SHEQ coordinator, SHEQ specialist and SHE Manager in different sectors namely Open Cast Mining (coal), coal processing plant (MINOPEX) and explosive & chemical manufacturing plant. She also has experience with Glencore safety standards and requirements as she was responsible for compliance at Glencore sites for AEL Mining Services.
She is currently employed by South African Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) as a Deputy Director -Occupational Health and Safety. Her most recent previous employment was with Solar Mining Services, an explosives manufacturing company where she worked as a SHE Manager for the past 6 years.
She is a very good influencer, an effective communicator and change agent in terms of safety, health and environmental matters. She can stimulate, facilitate and coordinate change effortlessly through communication and involvement of all stakeholders.
Within her previous company she has managed to hold many roles related to SHEQ management, being a Covid-compliance officer, wellness champion and an HIV and AIDS counsellor for employees. Her passion for SHE management has afforded her the opportunity of getting her previous company through ISO 9001:2015, ISO 45001 , ISO 14001 accreditation, which was a great milestone for the company, and she got recognition for this milestone.
She and her co-employees has managed to get the company to a Total Recordable Incident Rate of 0.00 for the first time in July 2020 and attained a TRIR of 0.00 again in March 2022. It was through her taking leadership of the SHEQ department by encouraging teamwork, various safety programs and championing each employee to take full responsibility for Safety, Health, Environmental, Risk and Quality related issues. She is conversant with OSHA and MHSA as she has been exposed to different sectors which makes her a very versatile SHEQ personnel.
Her current duties include but not limited to: Enforce safety culture amongst employees and management. Ensure that the SHEQ monthly report is compiled, submitted and presented to Executives timeously. Incident reporting, tracking and close out of all investigations. (Communication of all incidents to all stakeholders). Risk management – Ensure that all critical tasks are risk assessed and all employees are trained. Management of ISO systems (day to day operations, update & reviewal of documents, procedures etc.) Conduct internal inspections and audits.
Contractor management, all safety files for all projects within the company are evaluated and approved by her, prior to any projects commencing. Monthly contractors meetings are scheduled and conducted.
Ensure that all contractors understand all SHEQ requirements and enforce compliance.
Submission of monthly SHE reports and presenting the report to the executive team on a quarterly basis.
