  • Since joining Odire I’ve managed and overseen the comprehensive financial operations of the company and its sister companies, one in property leasing and the other in hospitality. My main duties as financial controller are:
  • Preparation and presentation of accurate financial statements, including income statements. In the few months I’ve been with the company, I’ve managed to draft and present financial statements for the three companies, some of which were outstanding from 2021.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards (IFRS) and regulatory requirements. One of my crowning achievements so far has been reviewing and updating standard operating procedures to bring them in line with accounting standards
  • Develop annual budgets in collaboration with department heads and senior management. My work in this regard has also included training finance department staff, how to draw up budgets and upload them to the accounting system.
  • Monitor actual performance against budget, analyze variances, and provide explanations for discrepancies.
  • Prepare financial forecasts to predict future financial performance and support strategic planning.
  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records. I’ve assisted Odire in documenting and adhering to internal control procedures especially in procurement processes.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, including tax obligations and financial reporting standards. I have helped Odire with timely tax filing including securing VAT payment arrangements in order to maintain compliance.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for operational needs and strategic initiatives.
  • Manage payroll data entry and processing for over 200 employees to comply with predetermined company guidelines.
  • Reduced operating costs through meticulous budget management and cost analysis.
  • Follow up with delinquent accounts to obtain funds and reduce aging balances.
  • Manage a team of finance professionals, providing guidance, support, and ongoing training to ensure continued growth and development.
