• Responsibilities: Substance Abuse Specialized Unit
• To conduct biopsychosocial assessment for needs identification and develop treatment/management plan based on needs identified.
• Liaise with multi-disciplinary professionals (medical doctor, psychologist and professional nurse) and also caregivers to foster access to rehabilitation facility if need arise.
• To refer services users to relevant organization based on needs identified (psychiatric ward mostly in Tembisa Hospital).
• To promote clients well-being through effective case management, counselling and advocacy.
• Work with community organizations to create access to resources and assistance to meet client varying needs.
• Conduct group work sessions to ensure services users share their stories with others to cope better and be ready for a long term rehabilitation facility program in an in-patient unit setting.
• To conduct aftercare services to ensure recovering addicts maintains their sobriety.
• To conduct reintegration services for service users back into community life to maximize successful transition rate and to maintain a good lifestyle.
• Monitor service users' progress, escalating concerns for swift resolution.
• Attended regular training and supervision workshops for improved service user support.
• Coordinate with trained and licensed service providers to facilitate life skills workshops for recovering addicts.
• To supervise social auxiliary workers and to ensure center runs smooth on a daily basis.

• Responsibilities: responsibility are almost the same in all fields. To render support services starting from use of biopsychosocial model for assessment to identify needs of patients/clients, family and significant others.
• Helping patients/families understand illness and treatment options, as well as consequences of various treatments or treatment refusal; by using Multi-disciplinary team approach.
• Helping patients/families adjust to hospital admission; possible role changes; exploring emotional/social responses to illness and treatment;
• Educating patients on levels of health care (i.e. acute, sub-acute, hospice and home care when necessary).
• Facilitate discharge plan based on patient's condition and arrange post-hospital care to ensure patient's overall well-being is in save hands.
• To make follow ups on patients' after-care providers.
• To provide feedback to multi-disciplinary team for better treatment plan.
• Liaised with families and caregivers to develop balanced rehabilitation programmes.
• To render grief, supportive, bereavement counseling when need arise.
• To render trauma debriefing to multi-disciplinary team when need arise.
• To work with employees during COVID-19 pandemic and render employee assistance services. This was a mandate from CEO of the hospital.

Responsibilities: Statutory work and Case work

• To render child protection services through working with the organs of state such Children's Court and Social Development Department.
• To assess to needs of children and if need be, the child gets placed into a place of safety with or without court order depending on severity or urgency of the case.
• To give full support to places of safety in ensuring children are well cared for.
• Support group for caregivers who are regarded as places of safety.
• To advocate for children to ensure they get the basic and human rights (right to housing, healthy food, clean drinking water and education, etc).
