  • Translate Forensic Medical Service’s (FMS) vision, mission, and goals into strategic objectives in alignment with the Gauteng Department of Health and Wellness strategic priorities
  • Provide strategic leadership and overall operational management of seven (7) directorates namely: Forensic Pathology Service, Clinical Forensic Medicine, Inspector of Anatomy, Forensic Medical Research, Corporate Services, Finance and Infrastructure

Provincial Departments of Health: Forensic Pathology Service
  • Manage forensic pathology mortuaries and district through daily planning and directing efficient and delivery of clinical/postmortem services and administrative support services
  • Provide inputs and motivate for budget, motivate for budget adjustments, projections or expenditures, process supplier and employee’s payments within the PFMA and other finance prescripts
  • Manage the service delivery of the facility, monitor shift system, standby duties, Postmortem scheduling and Postmortem dockets inspection and court statements
  • Assist in development of standard operating procedures for the mortuary in respect of government mortuary practices such as admission and safe keeping of bodies and evidence, exhibit management and disposal of unknown bodies
  • Collate, compile and analyses forensic pathology service monthly statistics/data with a view to provide required monthly/ quarterly and annual reports
  • Provide other organs of state with such statistics and trends on trauma related deaths such as motor vehicle accidents, liquor related deaths, this is to assist these organizations on their strategic planning processes
  • Administer theft, loss, damages and misuse of state vehicles and debt management functions
  • Enforce debt management functions in respect of private telephone and cellphone accounts and institute debt accounts for stop order deductions for debtors
  • Ensure that inventory list is accurately updated on BAUD system and in stores
  • Ensure that all assets are bar coded and perform periodically physically verification of assets
  • Responsible for recording transfers, movement, repairs, audit, and disposal of assets
