- WesBank - I undertook the significant task of disassembling a monolithic server within the vehicle finance domain into efficient microservices. My role extended beyond conventional boundaries as I orchestrated the migration of the project from SVN to Bitbucket, laying the foundation for a more streamlined version control system. The intricacies of the project didn't end there. I took the lead in configuring a robust CI/CD pipeline using Bamboo, Ansible, and Rancher. This allowed for the seamless hosting of the application on-premise within a Kubernetes environment ensuring scalability and resource optimization. As the project evolved, I identified an opportunity to enhance its resilience and performance. I proposed and implemented a comprehensive monitoring system. By introducing the ELK stack and adhering to the principles of observability.

This was driven by the need to efficiently receive various batch data from the ASP server. My primary focus was on the implementation of an automated custom reconciliation system. This process facilitated a singular data source, subsequently enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of the system. However, the Spring Batch framework was not the only area of focus. I also took charge of the practical implementation of machine learning as an API for real-world business challenges. In a subsequent role, I delved into Databricks, presenting another proof of concept that emphasized the transformative power of DataOps methodologies and the innovative Lakehouse architecture. This unified approach seamlessly incorporated AI, batch jobs, stream workloads, BI workload, governance, and data auditing into a single Databricks platform. The success of this initiative led to its adoption in the client's environment, marking a migration from traditional data warehousing and data lakes to the Databricks platform, embracing the efficient DataLakehouse architecture.
