Since entering the digital era, photo film is no longer necessary for still image capturing, however mass production for sales purposes means there’s still a lot of un used photo film which may never be used again. Photo film uses silver which reacts with light to capture an image.
Objective: Come up with a process in which to abstract as much silver from the photo film as possible.
General Method Used: Chop the photo film into small pieces, Leach the silver from the film using Sodium Cyanide [NaCN], Alter the rate of reaction using sodium peroxide [H2O2], Then precipitated the silver from the formed solution using sodium hydrosulphite.
