TAWANDA HWENHIRA

Senior Reliability Engineer
Johannesburg

Summary

I am a reliability engineering professional with experience supporting mining projects, plastic manufacturing projects, oil manufacturing projects, educational projects and precious metal refining projects to improve internal operations. Currently, I am involved in industrial and reliability engineering work for crude oil storage and distribution project for Oiltankingmogs (Saldana West Coast , South Africa ) where there is the implementation of the asset management implementation project. Previously I developed asset care plans for Precious Metal Refineries (Anglo American, South Africa) looking at assets like reactors, ventilation fans, vacuum dryers, substation etc. with the aim of increasing reliability and availability, reducing life cycle cost and removing lean waste in the maintenance department. Part of the scope involved defect elimination, life cycle cost analysis, failure mode and effect analysis and root cause analyses of equipment. The highlight of the work was the creation of asset care plans for twenty percent of the critical equipment which reduced eighty percent of the stoppages in the plant. I have worked on a rotational moulding machine efficiency increase project at Mega Pak Zimbabwe where production was increased by twenty five percent. I was also involved in the decommissioning of the plant project where the team did the evaluation of the feasibility of repairing the old cooking oil plant as compared to the buying a new plant all together at National foods Zimbabwe.
