Summary

As the Head Tournament Administrator I exhibited, and improved, my social skills when engaging with multiple people, of various temperaments The job also required high computer literacy knowledge in order to make sure everything ran smoothly. I also exhibited high level of event management skills in making sure every tournament ran the way it was supposed to as well as adapting to problems that presented themselves on short notice. As a Discord Server manager and WhatsApp Community manager I have exhibited the ability to be a full fledged Community Manager. I am also a fast learner. I also take instructions very well which was a big requirement working with casters and players. With my degree in psychology it allows me to relate to people which helps me work in a team. I have also been part of many sports and esports teams with great success which also shows I can work well within a team. I am also a massive gamer and have incredible knowledge regarding every facet of gaming. I also have had to learn social media management in my job with Gauntlet, Proxy Tempest and then Mettlestate. I am a committed professional provides excellent customer service and works to carry out events to highest of standards.

  • The job was multi faceted.
  • The primary role was to host esports events and run them.
  • Mettlestate hosts multiple casual cups on week nights sometimes 4 at a time. My job was to run events and make sure these ran correctly and stuck to a schedule.
  • Mettlestate runs casual cups for a variety of games on all sorts of platforms. These games included Fortnite, EA FC 24, COD Mobile, COD Modern Warfare, Clash Royale, Marvel Snap and many more.
  • I landed up running and overseeing over 200 casual cups.
  • For the last year I have been running a team together with other moderators. These moderators and I would run the casual cups on week nights.
  • Metllestate would host longer format competitions in the form of leagues. I would also run these events.
  • I would also do all the preparation for the Casual Cups and Leagues. This included making the event on the Mettlestate back end, compiling the ruleset, setting the schedule and uploading assets from the design team.
  • As a tournament admin I would also run events at activations and offline events like Comic Con and rageExpo. Some of my most succesful events are Red Bull Campus Clutch, Mamelodi Sundows FIFA 23 Championship and the All Star VAORANT league. I ran over 50 leagues over this time.
  • Mettlestate also hosted LAN Finals at our studio where I would manage the players and make sure the players kept to our schedule. I would also help the players with any techincal issues they might have had.
  • I would also help out at all Mettlestate's activations. I have been part of the team that has run events for companies like Spotify, Incredibly Connection, ASUS and many many more.
  • I would also full in Winner Forms to ensure our players would receive their prizes.
  • I was also tasked with running the Mettlestate Discord which is home to over 20000 people.
  • I would moderate all the channels in the Discord and ensure the Discord was kept under community guidelines.
  • I would also run the Mettlestate ticketing system in our Discord providing technical support to our player base.
  • I would also be tasked with upkeep the Discord and keep it relevant which I believed I succeeded.
  • I would also work with the multiple Discord bots. This would be to post updates about our cups, post long form content and post our social posts to our vast Discord base.
  • Mettlestate also has WhatsApp communities where we would interact with our player base. I would create these communities and oversee them.
  • I also Utilized social media platforms effectively to market events and attract a wider audience.
  • In 2023 I was tasked to manage the Mettlestate Forge Arena which is an esports arena that Mettlestate built. I would ensure that all technical aspects of the PCs up there was managed.
  • I would also create and send out mailers pertaining to our competitions. This would go out to our entire player base.
  • I was often consulted about gaming news and trends as I am fully immersed in the gaming community. All departments would come to me for information.
  • I would also on occasion act as the Observer for Mettlestate's broadcasted leagues and matches for multiple games.

  • As the Head Admin my job was to ensure all tournaments were run successfully
  • This would involve: finding players for the tournaments, making sure sure all the brackets were made, ensuring all the players were ready to play their games and organizing and liaising with a broadcast team to ensure punctuality
  • I would then ensure all the players were happy and ready to go
  • In addition to that, I was also required to ensure players were paid according to prize pools on time, as well as manage the Social Media presence of the organization on platforms such as Twitch, Twitter, Liquipedia) to ensure guidelines were followed by the organization, as well as those engaging with us.
