Summary

Obtained a Master’s Degree in Animal Science from the University of Stellenbosch. Additionally, also hold a BSc Agric Honours in Animal Science and Bachelor of Science Degree (BSc) in Agriculture from the University of Fort Hare (UFH). Started a professional career as a temporary mentor for the Agricultural Rural Development and Research Institute (ARDRI) at UFH, mentoring emerging communal and semi-urban farmers’ modern farming techniques in livestock production industry. Was formerly employed as a Junior Animal Scientist by the Eastern Cape Department of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform (DRDAR) in 2007, and two years later, was elevated to Senior Animal Scientist under the same department. Under the implementation of Occupational Specific Dispensation (OSD), currently work as a Senior Researcher in Animal Science at Döhne Agricultural Development Institute, which is a Provisional Agricultural Research Station under the Department of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform (DRDAR). Have been working for DRDAR for 15 years and have represented Döhne Agricultural Development Institute on various congresses, conferences and symposiums, presenting research work findings in Animal Sciences and have published numerous scientific papers on local and international scientific publication platforms. Furthermore, also serve as a mentor and supervisor, managing research animal technicians and also serve as an external examiner for Pig and Poultry Production courses for students of Fort Cox College of Agriculture who are enrolled for Diploma in Animal Production. A registered Professional Natural Scientist with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP) and a member of South African Society of Animal Science (SASAS and currently serve as the Chairperson of the Eastern Cape SASAS branch under the SASAS umbrella-body.
