  • I am responsible for stock and cycle counts. I engage with suppliers to complete and /or facilitate internal projects for internal stake holders including but not limited to testing facilities improvement and asset maintenance and replacement.
  • During my time in this role, I have identified and reduced stock holding of slow-moving stock and increased stock holding of fast-moving stock, effectively reducing stock-outs and maintaining a healthy balance of stock availability for internal and external customers.

  • While in the position of Workshop manager, I was responsible for reducing repair time, minimizing warranties on repair work and driving safety and quality in my department.
  • I drafted several Safe working procedures for the workshop as well as implementing quality checklists consisting of inspection checks and holding points. In my capacity as Workshop manager, I engaged with customers during site inspections/audits and visits.

Quality Inspector

Hydraulic Engineering Repair Services
01.2019 - 01.2021
  • While in the position of Quality inspector, my main directive from the Operations and the Workshop manager was to improve the quality of the repaired components as the warranty rate was approaching the 10% mark on turn-over.
  • During which I re-implemented the OEM repair procedure and by simply enforcing the work procedure I was able to reduce the warranty rate to under 3% in less than a year.
  • In late 2020, the current Workshop manager accepted the position of Workshop manager for another start up and as he vacated his position, I was asked to stand in until a suitable replacement was employed. Early in January 2021 they made my position permanent as Workshop manager.

Assembly technician

Sandvik mining (Underground component)
01.2013 - 01.2019
  • While in the position of assembly technician, I was tasked with repairing drive train components to OEM standard. This included transmissions, torque converters and axles. As I trained on repairing components I was tasked with being the safety representative for the workshop where I reported on all safety matters to the SHEQ department and partook in workshop inspections by the safety department inspector. This gave me a good foundation of what to look for when determining the safety in the workshop and promoting adherence to safety rules and regulations. I was later trained in the test area for the components and installed all components on the test bench and tested to OEM specifications. I was later made the charge-hand of the workshop under George Bouwer. This was my introduction to meetings with senior managers and reporting of workshop throughput and issues to resolve to improve workshop output. In early 2018 I spoke about career development with the Workshop foreman and started seeking growth opportunities both in and outside of the company. In July 2019 I resigned from Sandvik and worked my notice in August after which in September I started my new employment with HERS.

Apprentice

Sandvik mining (Surface mining)
01.2011 - 01.2013
  • During my apprenticeship, I was working with the surface drilling machine rebuild department to rebuild customer machines and bring back to standard for the next period that the unit would work on the mine. The units were more complex in hydraulics as it did not have drive train components. Only hydraulic wheel motors and control circuits.
