Career Achievement Highlight

During my articles I was granted an opportunity to form part of the audit team auditing Eskom Customer Services a division of Eskom SOC that deals with collection of revenue. I joined the team back in 2018 and I was afforded with the opportunity to be one of the trainees who were assessing whether Eskom has correctly implemented IFRS 9 with their recent transition of applying old standard to IFRS 9 which addresses the international Accounting for financial instruments. We assessed whether the method was reasonable with the assistance of our firms (i.e., SNG Grant Thornton) actuaries whereby they assessed the model. We further recalculated the IFRS 9 impairment to confirm the mathematical accuracy of the IFRS 9 impairment that is disclosed on financial statements.
