  • Key Performance Areas:
  • Support Advice and Capacity Building: Provide hands-on support to strengthen municipal capacity/ improve programme implementation. Facilitate training programs / peer learning sessions in the areas of focus/ professional discipline. Ensure the equitable economic empowerment, participation and ownership for women, youth and persons with disabilities being at the centre of the national economic agenda. Aiding in the formulation and improvement of Departmental strategy in matters relating to the Cultural Promotion and Events.
  • Programme/ Project Management: Implement appropriate project management methodologies and disciplines, and manage full project cycle on assigned projects including Monitoring and Evaluation. Managing selected Cultural Promotion projects intervention mechanisms on policies and programmes implementation for mainstreaming the social empowerment and participation of women, youth and persons with disabilities towards social transformation.
  • Governance, Compliance and Risk Management: Uphold sound corporate governance principles in the day-to-day operation of the area of responsibility/ professional discipline. Ensure compliance with organisational policies and procedures. Support the identification and mitigation of organisational and operational risks identified in the area of responsibility/ professional discipline. Develop and maintain programme risk register and ensure that mitigation steps are applied. Assign values to risks in order to understand financial implications of risk. Facilitate the compilation, coordination and monitoring of Visual arts Programmes and Exhibitions, Heritage conservation and management programmes as well as performing arts programs. Facilitating the development of Cultural Promotion related projects, events, systems and processes together with other professional officers working in related disciplines.
  • Research and Benchmarking: Identify best practice in relation to Arts, Culture and Heritage development under the guidance of sector specialists and management provide ongoing analysis of the key challenges, needs and trends in area of specialisation, to ensure that local government strategies and programmes are appropriately implemented. Responsible for researching and implementing methods and procedures for the delivery of effective arts, culture and heritage facilities. Effective museum administration facilitation of transformative Collections and Exhibitions management.
  • Responsible for the transformation of Arts, Culture and Heritage in the area by monitoring outreach programmes, cultural and heritage development programmes, indigenous knowledge systems and art as healing programmes. Represent the Greater Knysna Cultural Organisations on the Provincial / National Creative Conferences and facilitate educational, marketing of public awareness outreach programmes.
  • Stakeholder Management: Within the scope of area of accountability build and maintain relevant stakeholder relationships/ partnerships in the area of responsibility. Ensure appropriate liaison and consultations with relevant stakeholders regarding the development of their business plans, and cultural forum activities as well as handling and resolve all complaints received from the public regarding Arts, Culture and Heritage services and facilities.
  • Teamwork: Work as a multi-disciplinary and integrated team to find possible solutions to complex challenges in the Municipality. Support organisational priorities and the implementation of resource mobilisation systems and processes. Perform administrative functions of the Section and implementing Supply Chain Management procedures and ensure MFMA is followed and other duties as instructed by the Manager: Libraries & Heritage to ensure good governance.

  • Managed the following programs in the Knysna Municipality Arts and Culture Section:
  • Craft development workshop 2010 we targeted the unemployed craft producers to stimulate their ideas in craft production and be able to market themselves.
  • Knysna, Idols music competition 2010.
  • Eden Drama festival semi/final, 2011-14 Knysna showcase where the winners had an opportunity to tour and showcase at the Arts Cape Suidoosterfees 2014 & 2019, Zabalaza Theatre Festival 2014 & 2019, 2020, Klein Karoo Kunstefees 2014 - 2019 and to the popular SABC 2 Soapie 7deLaan and DSTV Soapie Suidooster 2019.
  • Art Skills Training and the Exhibition where we are targeting unemployed youth to transfer the skills and have the opportunity to display their work at local and national galleries.
