  • Company Overview: The IIE is a division of ADvTECH, a JSE-listed company. It is the biggest private higher education provider in SA with brands such as The IIE- Varsity College, -Rosebank College and -Vega as well as IIEMSA (previously Monash SA). We have over 60 000 000 students and offer qualifications from Higher Certificates to a Doctorate.
  • I have been the Registrar of The IIE for 13 years and am part of the Senior Management team.
  • I lead one of our town hall meetings to drive our CONVO culture.
  • I also lead a team to compile and prepare information on one standard of one of the focus areas of the CHE Quality Assurance Framework and to write this up for our Self Evaluation Report for our Institutional Review.
  • At The IIE's 'Head Office,' my team consists of 30 staff members (incl. temps) with 3 Deputy Registrars (Legal and Governance, Compliance and Admissions and Operations and Certification) as well as our Administrator reporting to me.
  • I am a member of the SAQA Qualifications Committee, a sub-committee of the SAQA Board since April 2022.
  • I represent the South African Private Higher Education Association (SAPHE) on the Post-School Education and Training Committee (PSET) Committee.
  • I also represent SAPHE on the Joint USAf Admissions and Matriculation Board Committee.
  • Since 2012, I have represented The IIE at the Registrar's Imbizo's – a forum for Registrar's of Public Universities and Private Higher Education Institutions (PHEIs).
  • As a qualified First Aider, I served on the Occupational Health and Safety Committee of The IIE.
  • Since I have taken up my role as Registrar at The IIE we have been compliant with our Annual Report submissions to the DHET as well as our HEQCIS Reports to the CHE.
  • I am overall accountable for the following key performance areas: Management of the division of the Registrar to ensure the best use of resources and effective and efficient delivery of services to The IIE – compliance reporting, admissions, graduations, registry, policy and procedure review and student/customer queries/complaints.

  • Submission of: audited, timeous and complete Annual Reports to the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), audited reports to the HEQCIS of the Council on Higher Education (CHE), this includes updates of qualification and site information, reports on international students to the Department of Home Affairs (DHA), reports on qualification offerings to the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) for verification of sub-frameworks.
  • Checking and signing off on the SAQA documents for new programme accreditation and registrations, applications for amendments of our Registration, and various other response letters to the Regulators.
  • Committee Secretariat for The IIE Governance Committee meetings (Faculty Boards, Teaching and Learning, Brands Results, Research and Postgraduate Studies and Senate).
  • I chair the Senate meeting in the absence of the Director.
  • Policy and Procedure Review.
  • Attending to student/ brand queries.
  • Admissions leadership and escalations.
  • IIE graduations and conferral of qualifications.
  • Investigation of calls logged on The IIE CAT Ethics Hotline and reporting at Senate.
  • Part of The IIE's Disciplinary Appeals Committee.
