Shimane Lebele (African male), age 44, with NQF level 7 in Risk management. I have 20 years of experience in the mining industry, specializing in the Mine Health and Safety Act, and Occupational Health, and Safety Act. I started my career at Anglo Platinum as a plant operator/processor in 2001. During my time at Anglo Platinum, I worked in all the sections of the plant: Crusher plant, milling section, flotation, sampling and evaluation laboratory, and control room. In 2003, I was elected as a shift safety representative and carried out my duties of a safety representative, and in 2005; I was elected again as a full-time safety representative where I participated in safety committees, DMR inspection, and investigations. In 2006, I acted as a plant safety officer at Waterval Ug2 Concentrator when our plant safety officer was on training and annual leave.My duties were to ensure compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act, Inspect the workplace at the intervals prescribed by MHSA and operational standards, investigate all potential incidents, report to the plant manager and safety manager, and implement recommendations.In 2008, I was appointed as a Risk Officer for Waterval concentrators (Anglo Platinum) which entails of five operations my responsibilities were to ensure all risk assessments, safe working procedures, and planned task observations were done and reviewed as per the company's standards.Approval of contracting companies' risk assessments and their safety files.In 2009, I acted as a Safety Risk Manager when our Safety manager was on leave.In 2010 with the experience, I gathered all these years working closely with the contracting companies rendering services at Anglo Platinum Waterval Concentrators I then identified a gap in contractor management. I then discussed this with my Safety Manager to establish Waterval concentrator's contractor Hub.Early 2011 contactor Hub was established, and I was head of the Hub with three sub-ordinates our function was to ensure contracting companies' compliance in terms of legal compliance and other requirements. I was to ensure the company's contractor management rules and standards were always complied with. I also ensured inductions, safety files, and legal appointments were in place.In 2013 august, I joined Metso Minerals as a safety officer up until 2016 November.I was responsible for HSE compliance in 11 mining sites we render services to in southern Africa i.e., Anglo Platinum, Aquarius, Lonmin, Impala, Glencore, Hernic Ferro Chrome, Samancor, AfriSam, Maseve Mining, Royal Bafokeng mines.In 2016 December joined Outotec Services as a safety officer for sub–Saharan Africa.I am responsible for the dewatering department Health and safety compliance at Anglo Platinum Smelters and Concentrators
