Work History

Local Economist

International Monetary Fund, RRO-Mozambique
1 2023 - Current
  • As an economist in the Resident Representative office, I assist the Res Rep with assessing the health of the economy, overseeing the implementation of the IMF program, and ensuring compliance with the agreed-upon structural reforms. For the latter, I closely assist the HQ colleagues in the external sector (following and analyzing the BOP data, as well as the external arrears from the Ministry of Economy and Finance). In addition, I also assist the HQ colleagues in the monetary and financial sector, closely monitoring economic development in these sectors that have both downside and upside risk, and thereafter macroeconomic instability. Lastly, I also assist the HQ colleagues in the real sector by monitoring different developments from the private sector that have implications on economic growth. From the authorities' side, I engage more with the Statistics officials. In this capacity, I have participated in about 3 program review missions and co-authored 1 SIP and 1 Working paper.
