Projects

AutomaTech:

At AutomaTech (part of the Augos group), I have worked on a large variety of projects, from mass electricity usage metering projects, water consumption monitoring, cold chain monitoring solutions, custom weather station setups and even thatch roof drencher control systems for sites as prestigious as Babylonstoren, the Kleinbosch Heritage Site and most recently the Blaauwklippen Wine Estate.

Biggarsberg Thatchers:

During my vacations, I work as a site manager for Biggarsberg Thatchers, 3 time Most Aesthetic Structure and 2 time Worlds Best Thatched Roof winner. I have mainly overseen projects at Phezulu Game Estate, KZN, including new builds, patching and combing projects.

Pailpac:

At Pailpac, I worked as part of the Mechatronics team at the Durban factory. I worked to develop a 2D test printer. This printer would serve as a way to test different printer heads on the market as well as the different inks and printing distances and speeds. This would assist the team with developing a bespoke printer to print directly onto 25l pails as part of their manufacturing line.

Sports

I have an extensive sporting background beginning in primary school where I participated in all sporting codes offered including:

  • Rugby, both school level and club level
  • Swimming
  • Cross-country Running
  • Hockey
  • Soccer
  • Athletics, both track and field
  • Tennis
  • Karate (through an external club)

Moving on to high school, I received a partial Sports Scholarship from Kloof High for rugby, aquatics and academics. This lead to a very packed high school career, balancing rugby (again at both school and club level), waterpolo, swimming and academics (both in school and external competitions). When Covid hit in 2020, my sporting options were limited with social distancing and as a result I took up rock climbing for 2021 leading me to go to district trails only months after join and I performed exceptionally well off such little experience. I was also rewarded by my rugby club, Hillcrest Villagers, for 10 years service to the club in 2019.

Joining UCT, I decided to once again expand on my sporting experience by taking up kickboxing.

Kickboxing

My training in kickboxing has taught me amazing discipline which I believe has aided me in all endeavor's.

I started Kickboxing in 2022 at the start of my university journey. I have been competing at u74kg on the tatami since mid 2022. Under the training of Joshua Cloete Jr, I have competed in the following events

  • Shorin Ji Development Tournament on multiple occasions walking away with a 3 Golds, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze
  • Vibrant Development Tournament with 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze
  • Vibrant Summer Cup 2023 with 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze
  • Vibrant Winter Cup 2024 with Gold
  • Cape Town Regional Championship 2023 with 2 Gold
  • Western Cape Provincial Championship 2023 with 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze
  • South African National Championship 2024 where I became the first u74kg light and kick-light South African University Champion

I will be competing in the Cape Town Regional Championship again this year with the hopes to make Nationals again next year and go for South African u74kg tatami champion in semi, light and kick-light. I am also considering moving to the ring and competing K1 and seeing how far I can progress with that.

In under 2 years of beginning training I have qualified for Nationals which is quite the achievement and then to go onto becoming the SA University Champ only a few months later has gained me much praise from my coach and fellow club members.
