Taking responsibility and ensuring the staff duty roster is done correctly,
Staff allocation as well as the allocation of extra shifts when needed; Test Vellux system;(night staff once a week). Order incontinence wear (if Night shift – complete order electronically and email order through (copy Estate Manager on correspondence);
Equip the nursing station and report faulty equipment to the Estate Manager. Double checks on blister packs;
Weekly checks on emergency trolley and first aid kit (to be done by night staff). Ensure all Company Policies and Procedures are adhered to, including reporting any
forms of Elderly Abuse.Ensure that medicine is administered correctly and chart in the medicine file. Implement and adhere to infection control measurements and protocols in handling medical waste, bodily fluids, appropriate disposal thereof; and ensure that your team understands and adheres to these measurements. Medicine charts; incident reports; resident care operations; neat working environment; clubhouse during activities and meals; body checks, nails and toenails On Night duty hourly checks on residents must be done;
Handling of hearing aids; Notify resident family of need to make doctor’s appointment and proceed to make. necessary doctor’s appointment (and/or complete referral letter if on night duty, and ensure it is handed over to the Healthcare Day Shift Leader to continue with
finalizing the appointment). Inform the Estate Manager of such appointment;
Accompany residents to Doctor’s/specialist visits (mostly Day Shift); Report back to the resident’s family, Estate Manager after doctor’s/specialist visit. Six monthly script renewal; Six monthly assessments on the residents and sign-off for other shifts with EN as
shift leader. Be a leader to your healthcare team, who inspires and empowers the Livewell
nursing team; On call as consultant to the other 3 shifts;Training the EN’s , ENA’s and carers, assist with training on the other shift when needed ; Assist EN’s when they require advice on medication. Assist and train EN,ENA and care providers with residents needed regarding any behavioral concerns; Ensure that in-house training of all EN, ENA’s and care providers in Livewell are taking place as stipulated in the programme;
Ensure carer allocations are in line with caring needs of residents and that care given by nursing team is of high standard;

Compiling reports for: Incidents

Responsible for recognising patients' symptoms, taking measures within scope of practice to administer medications, providing measure to alleviate pain, and collaborating with other professionals to optimize patients comfort and families understanding and adaptation. Performing wound care and controlling infections. Education and health promotion. Confirming and dating pregnancy. Providing prenatal and postpartum care. Caring for women including clinical examinations and screening, identify high risk pregnancies. Activities such as full history taking, continuity of care, informed choice making. Bookings, including bed bookings, theatre bookings.
