Joined the CSIR in January 1991 in internal audit as project accountant and has since gained experience in various roles within the organisation as acccountant, management accountant and Financial Manager of a Cluster.

Current role provides strategic expert advice to the organisation on the prescribed statutory and accounting treatment of trade in foreign currencies and financial instruments, as well as specific approval requirements which enable the CSIR to trade internationally with ease whilst mitigating the risk of cancellation of approvals granted to the CSIR by the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) and National Treasury.

Manage and review CSIR local and foreign cash flow requirements, bank reconciliations and ensure the correct accounting of transactions on CSIR bank accounts. Process payment of CSIR employee and CSIR Board and committee members’ remuneration within the set time constraints using relevant information provided by responsible departments.
Review the accuracy and validity of payments processed in the Treasury Department and responsible for accurate accounting of payroll output and the processing and payment of debtors’ refunds.

Extensive experience in financial instruments and foreign trade, SARB regulations, legal and legislative requirements. Deals in foreign currency and financial instruments
Experience on management of CFC bank accounts
Cash flow management and bank reconciliation experience in a large entity
Experience of working on banking systems including foreign trade applications.
Knowledge of and working experience with PAYE, VAT, customs and excise fees and SARS e-filing
ERP finance system application experience
