I have developed a broad and adaptable set of skills, encompassing profound expertise in crucial areas such as project and cost management, financial risk mitigation drawn from academic, residential, commercial, alterations, building and plumbing maintenance type projects both in the public and public sector. My competencies encompass:

• Project management: Effectively steering projects to ensure both cost-effectiveness and punctual completion while safeguarding the client’s requirements and expectations.
• Procurement strategies: Compiling tender documents, tender evaluation reports, contract selection and contract management to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery for principal and subcontract agreements.
• Contract Management: Ensuring compliance with contractual terms, monitoring project costs, facilitating payments, resolving disputes, and maintaining effective communication between stakeholders.
• Financial Risk Mitigation: Employing strategic approaches to manage financial risks to ensure project success.
• Cost management: Preparing estimates, exercising cost control, managing variations, recommending cost-saving measures, and ensuring value for money throughout the lifecycle of a construction project

In addition to the consulting Quantity Surveying services that I’ve been performing for De Leeuw Quantity Surveyors in the past couple of years. I’ve also been employed on a limited basis by a Contractor namely GSK1 Piping and Cement for almost 2 years now, which specifically specialises in demolition and rehabilitation work and specifically requires quantity surveying services on the vast number of projects they are currently executing for various mines. My competencies encompass:

• Cost Estimation: Assisting in estimation of project costs, considering materials, labor, and other expenses.
• Budget Management: Supporting in the management of project budgets by monitoring costs and expenditures.
• Measurement and Documentation: Measuring and documenting quantities of materials and work completed on-site for accurate record-keeping.
• Tendering Process: Assisting in the preparation and submission of tender documents, including cost breakdowns.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate project records and preparing reports on cost-related matters.
• Contract Administration: Supporting the administration of contracts, which may involve reviewing and managing contractual agreements.

My experience at MHP Civils (Pty) Ltd provided a foundational understanding of quantity surveying processes and helped me develop essential skills for more advanced roles in the field. The work that I executed comprised of compiling cost estimates, measuring and pricing Bills of Quantities, compiling cost reports, implementing cost control, attending site meetings, measuring on site, compiling Payment Claims and finalising the Final Account.
