Working beside the group CFO, I have gained integrated experience in the financial industry. Implementing my educational background with real world experience. Making the wheels turn in the right direction.

I am responsible for:

  • Leading the financial planning and analysis by managing key metrics, analyzing data and providing support and insight for strategic planning by the CFO.
  • Establishing budgetary benchmarks and formulated financial management strategies by creating and implementing operating SOP's.
  • Lead a team of software developers/programmers to develop and evolve the internal accounting systems to deliver monthly Profit and loss reports.
  • Lead all admin and capturing staff to ensure a smooth monthly reporting structure.
  • Working hand in hand on both the creditors and debtors book along with all cashbooks, inter-company loans/accounts, debt-off sets etc.
  • Checking and controlling on all transactions for all divisional and supply chain entries, consisting of 9 internal company divisions with a fleet of around 450 trucks.

Joining the Lima Carries team was extremely fruitful as it is a family owned business, that really adds an all rounded approach to the business industry. Gaining the knowledge of running the full financial side from A to Z as well as diving into the operational side.

I was mainly responsible for:

  • Route cost accounting, client proposals and full tender submissions.
  • Constructing and drafting weekly/monthly/yearly financials.
  • Full payroll & HR function for around 87 drivers and 15 office staff.
  • Responsible for overseeing the full debtors and creditors function, releasing payments and controlling Inter-Africa payments.
  • Assisted with month-end closing procedures, journal entry review, balance sheet analysis and monthly management report preparation.
  • Balancing of control of PAYE, UIF and VAT submissions.
  • Budgeting and weekly cash projections.
  • Financing / controlling and monitoring of all company and personal assets/trusts.

After being promoted, I worked alongside the managing director. Aiding in monitoring, controlling and reporting on all financial matters related to the cross-border division and beyond.

I was mainly responsible for:

  • Constructing and drafting yearly financials.
  • Delivery of comprehensive daily profit and loss reports of the cross-border fleet (106 trucks).

After starting at Premier I was placed in the Cross-border division as being the connecting link between the operations department and finance team after various miscommunications between the two.

I was responsible for:

  • Ensuring that all POD's are collected, checked and passed on to finance.
  • Tracing and requesting missing documentation from clients/ delivery points or Border posts.
  • Ensuring that all completed loads are invoiced at the correct rates before monthly/weekly cut off times.
  • Checking all expense slips/reports from drivers while ensuring that all cross- border permits are valid and in place.
  • Daily data capturing of all loads via DataTim and Soloplan.
  • Opening and closing of all client trip reports and tracking.
  • Dispatching trip cash and Inter-Africa cash orders.
