Reporting to Scheme Manager, incumbent is responsible for water treatment works within area of operation:

• Supervises operations of potable water treatment plants to ensure continuous supply of potable water and treatment of effluent that is compliant to BLUE DROP requirements, standard operating instructions and procedures
• Ensure accurate and timeous reading of all meters
• Ensure water loss reduction
• Managing shifts rosters to ensuring optimal utilization of staff
• Ensure effective and efficient supply of water services to customers
• Oversee accuracy of chemical stock levels
• Perform water quality analysis to ensure supply of quality water to customers at all times
• Ensure that all process units within plant are operated efficiently and effectively at all times
• Managing and producing hypo-chloride chemical at plant
• Attending to breakdowns and call outs timeously
• Managing performance of subordinates through Performance Management System including training and Development
• Ensures compliance with all Lepelle Northern Water’s policies and procedures requirements, code of ethics and confidentiality.

Reporting to Regional Manager, incumbent is responsible for water treatment works within area of operation:

• Planning, organizing and directing production and supply of potable water treatment works to optimize plant efficiencies
• Planning and organizing and directing operation and maintenance activities to minimize production loss and maintenance costs
• Management of production and maintenance personnel to ensure effective utilization of resources
• Development, compilation, and implementation of operational, maintenance and personnel budgets
• Identification of operational risks, development of risks profile for own area of responsibility and implementation of approved risk and audit actions plans to mitigate operational risks and audit findings
• Advice subordinates of any deviation from standards
• Submit operation productivity reports withing area of responsibility
• Ensure compliance with all Lepelle Northern Water’s policies and procedures requirement, code of ethics and confidentiality.

• Facilitate and conduct inspections to all water and wastewater care facilities in region including boreholes based in client department
• Prepare reports and interpret water quality monitoring results for both water and wastewater treatment plants in Port Elizabeth regional office
• Monitor green and blue drop system done by contractor that is responsible for system update and uploading of data
• Carried out day-to-day duties accurately and efficiently.

• Ensure that laboratory results are interpreted accordingly to do adjustments to achieve effluent compliance
• Managing data and investigating possible areas of non-compliance to DWA Standards
• Respond to client queries within and outside department
• Ensure that inspection and monitoring program are followed per schedule and as per license requirements
• Supervise and operate waste water treatment works inclusive of pump stations

• To monitor pump stations to avoid environmental degradation by sewage overflows
• Investigate and respond to sewer spillages and water resource pollution incidents at pump stations
• Interpret results and do adjustments accordingly
• Monitor final effluent for compliance with standards
• Check ground water contamination in municipal landfill Site (sludge burial)
• Monitor algae growth at dam that effluent is discharged at
• Collect and analyze samples daily
• Ensure that Daily running of activated sludge plant or biological trickling filter plant is operated accordingly to ensure that effluent and its associated sludge produced comply with license conditions issued by DWA
• Handled troubleshooting of operational issues, ceasing operations whenever conditions were hazardous.
• Located and investigated production concerns and helped management implement corrective actions.
• Generated and submitted detailed reports to regulatory agencies and company leadership to help drive enhancements.
