Since the rearing farm was new, I had to formulate all the procedures being followed in the farm including biosecurity, vaccination, daily task, setting house controls, chemicals used during house preparation and for biosecurity, rodent control, day to day task for employees, production cycles etc.

Managing all day to day activities in the farm my duties include the following:

• Planning and ensuring that house preparation is done correctly
• Facilitating proper placement of chicks as well as stock density
• Setting controls and monitoring temperature, lighting program, air quality (CO2, humidity and ensuring the house Has good ventilation according to the breed requirements and monitoring them daily Ensuring that the system used to run the farm is functioning properly
• Ensuring the flock weight is up to breed standard
• Weekly and monthly reports
• Capturing and analyzing data
• Ordering feed and changing diets
• Ensuring that the flock performance is up to standard Flock health
• Depopulation
• Mentor for TUT students and interns from DALRRD
