• Reviewing engineering drawings for piping, vessels, heat exchangers, etc. Ensuring they are approved by the client and AIA.
• Ensure all material on the bill of material (BOM) is provided and verified according to line class.
• Verify that the correct electrode is used for the job at hand and ensure that the welder is qualified as well (date, thickness, diameter, and type of material).
• Perform fit-up inspections.
• Conduct surveillances before welding, such as preheat, and during welding, such as intermediate preheat, housekeeping, hot boxes, or welding electrode tubes in use.
• Perform final visual inspection and perform non-destructive testing as per code requirements.
• Perform pressure test, where applicable, according to SANS 347 and P.E.R.
• Ensure documentation is completed correctly, and all required documentation is present within the data pack/book.
• Sign C.O.M /C.O.C once the job is complete.

• MEDUPI STRUCTURAL REHABILITATION PROJECT.
• Ensured the latest revised drawing was in use as well as approved for construction.
• Ensured bolted connections and welding where required were as per Site Instruction (S.I) and as per latest revised drawing.
• Followed code requirements of AWS D1.1 pertaining to welded components.
• For bolted connections ensured torque ranges were calibrated and correct sockets used as well as the required newtons used to tighten connection.
• Also correct bolts used such as length, strength and size.
• Where welding was required, ensured correct electrode, process, hot box, welder qualification etc was used. Ensure the necessary NDT are done according to code requirement.
• Ensured all necessary documentation is present and filled out in the data book.
• Ensure COM is completed and signed on completion of the job.
