• Successfully performed 14 corneal transplants, demonstrating exceptional surgical skills and dedication to patient care.

2. Cataract Surgeries

• Completed 156 adult cataract surgeries, significantly enhancing the quality of life for numerous patients through improved vision.

3. Corneal Ulcers

• Treated 40 corneal ulcer cases annually, providing critical care and preventing further complications.

4. Innovation in Clinical Practice

• Established a Scleralens fitting clinic, introducing innovative solutions to address complex corneal conditions and improve patient comfort and vision.

5. Pediatric Care

• Managed 16 pediatric patients with retinoblastoma (RB), coordinating over 200 follow-up treatments with various departments, ensuring comprehensive and multidisciplinary care.
• Hold monthly multidisciplinary meetings with Intervention Radiology and Oncology, and inter-hospital meetings with Steve Biko, Mankweng, St. John's, and Rob Ferreira hospitals, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.

6. Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP)

• Conducted quarterly cluster meetings with Edenvale, Tambo Memorial, Far East, Bertha Gxowa, and Pholosong hospitals, enhancing the management and treatment of ROP.
• Screened and managed 1575 babies for ROP, demonstrating a strong commitment to early detection and intervention.

7. Strabismus Surgeries

• Performed 30 strabismus surgeries annually, correcting squints and improving visual alignment in pediatric patients.

8. Pediatric Glaucoma

• Treated 30 children annually for glaucoma, providing essential care to prevent vision loss and manage this chronic condition.

• Implemented an online booking system for the pediatric clinic, improving accessibility and convenience for patients and their families.

4. Record Keeping

• Performed: 340 Cataract extractions, 10 glaucoma procedures, 24 retina procedures, 9 cornea procedures, 19 Orbital procedures, 5 paediatric surgeries and 30 trauma cases.
• During senior rotations performed over 40 complicated cataract surgeries.
• Mentoring 4 medical officers from Nelspruit, Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth and Johannesburg via the OSSA Young Ophthalmologist programme.
• Excellent rapport with nursing and auxiliary (Theatre) staff.
• Provided treatment for about 20 HIV+ patients from Lilian Ngoyi who did not meet inclusion criteria for my MMED.
