  • Perform physical and chemical testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished cable products across Research & Development and on-site production laboratories.
  • Conduct quality control testing in accordance with Raw Materials Reports (RMR), product specifications, local, and international standards (SANS, BS EN, IEC, ASTM).
  • Tests performed include calorimetric mass of copper, peel strength/adhesion, ash content, tensile strength, manual and automatic titration, moisture content, volume resistivity, limiting oxygen index (LOI), % HCl, and Inspection of contamination and etc.
  • Evaluate incoming materials by verifying GRS (SAP) and Certificates of Analysis (COA), comparing results with supplier data, and assisting in issuing Non conformance Reports (NCRs) where applicable.
  • Perform finished cable testing from conductor to outer sheath to ensure compliance prior to release.
  • Conduct material characterisation and evaluation of new materials using ATR-FTIR, DSC, TGA, Melt Flow Indexer, and tensile testing.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including automatic titrator, furnace, vulcaniser, ageing ovens, microscopy, KSM, vernier calipers, micrometers, and tensometer.
  • Communicate production abnormalities to laboratory and production team leaders and assist with SOP reviews, chemical inventory, and customer complaint reporting.
