I worked as a Production Supervisor in the Operations Department for more than 6 years and many of my duties and responsibilities were not only focused in the manufacturing process but was also more focused on other aspects of the operations specifically warehousing and procurement departments.
My duties and responsibilities included:
This includes daily production plan, weekly check list, monthly check lists and overall, report on a monthly basis productivity of the Chemical manufacturing efficiencies.
• Generating daily production plans to meet sales demands and minimize sales order delivery period due to out-of-stock issues.
• Allocating manpower and equipment to meet the daily production plan and amend daily production plan to address unplanned urgent requirements.
• Carrying- out regular inspections of the production facility and activities to ensure that employees meet the requirements set out for the da y.
• Dealing with any constraints that employee may encounter, to enable produc1ion personnel to meet the targets set including breakdowns and material unavailability.
• Ensuring that batches are produced within de fined time-frames. Ensure batch yields ar e as expected and under/over-yields are investigated and addressed.
• Maintaining a Daily Production Rate target per da y depending on product demand.
• Assisting with material collections for unexpected shortages when required.
• Ensuring that out-of-stock items addressed in the out-of-stock meetings are booked in as soon as they are manufactured and batches ar e closed immediately after batches are booked in comple1cly.
• Manage all production raw material and packaging material stocks and participate in scheduled stock-take.
• Material Requirements Planning;
• Effectively determining material requirements to meet manufacturing needs.
• Carrying out regular inventory control activities on materials and ensuring that the Inventory is available in the right amounts at the right time.
• Ensuring procured materials meet specifications, quality standards and are cost efficient.
• Effectively tracking production volumes and ensuring customer demand patterns & purchasing trends.
• Scheduling and overseeing the supply and delivery of materials
• General Operational & Financial Management:
• Actively participating in Operational planning and budgeting processes.
• Driving continuous improvement through streamlining and optimizing relevant operational practices, processes and systems.
• Ensuring adherence to operational and financial frameworks of practices. Processes, standards and controls.
• Control costs and take the necessary action t o mitigate any financial risks or non-compliance.
• Ensuring that our products meet quality standards by:
• Supervising the issuing of raw materials.
• Ensuring that the correct quality raw materials are used for specific products.
• Identifying and dealing with nonconforming raw materials and products. • Ensuing that the correct quantities of raw materials are used for batches, followed by a an inspection.
• Carrying out inspections or final product condition before transfer to warehouse to ensure that quality standards are adhered to. This includes quantities. Container condition and cleanliness. Label condition and details. Stacking on pallets as well as ensuring that containers are properly sealed.
• Ensure that all records are up to date, accurate and available for inspection by:
• Ensuring that any raw material adjustments ar e recorded and consumed correctly when closing batches.
• Ensuring that Raw Material stocks are accurately reflected on the system. This may include regular cycle counting of raw material physical stock against system inventory on hand figures.
• Ensuring that accurate records or Packaging Material usage ar e kept. All unused packaging materials must be returned to stores and adjusted on the system. All additional packaging material used must be entered onto the system.
• Ensuring that Laboratory analysis and records are completed and entered int o batch logs.
• Ensuring that batch records are completed properly, filed and available for Inspection. Ensure that employees are aware of the occupational health and safety act by:
• Instructing workers to follow instructions.
• Enforcing health and safety regulations.
• Correcting unsafe acts and unsafe conditions
• Continues risk assessment
• Ensuring that only authorized, adequately trained workers operate equipment
• Reporting and investigating all accidents/ incidents
• Inspecting own area and taking remedial action to minimize or eliminate hazards

• Maintain an overall Quality Management System In my department by ensuring conformity of the operations and processes and forms part of Management Review Meeting and Operations Forum • Work as part of the certification team for transition (ISO 9001: 2008 t o ISO9001: 2015, ISO14001: 2004:2015and ISO18001to ISO 45000
• Work as part of auditing team for internal and external audits for ISO Certification. Responsible care and SABS product mark • Client Liaison regarding service quality of chemical products, treatment chemicals and service rendered by sales representatives and service technicians for improvement and customer satisfaction. This includes administration or customer complaints and nonconformance investigation and customer voice management. • Responsible for handling export orders and ensuring that products have relevant paper work and comply with the regulations. • Contact point in client servicing of Cooling water, Boiler water. Waste water and portable water monitoring, this is mainly to monitor cycle chemistry and optimization of treatment Output. Field water and waste water sampling and effluent water monitoring. • Schedule, Source and/Conduct training for Laboratory and chemical manufacturing personal (Quality, Environmental Safety, Health and Risk) SHERQ training
I worked in a technical department my duties and responsibilities included QC and QA. I played major roles in the research and development team and improved our work quality systems and productivity. I was also responsible for analysis and treatment of water samples varying from borehole water, cooling tower and boiler system water, effluent water as well as treatment of sludge using the flocculation chemistry/method. I was also responsible for maintaining GLP's & SOP's. Adherence and compliance to regulations, safety and company policies and procedures.
